Our day was simple, patriotic and fun.
We started out making red, white and blue cupcakes.
We tinted the cake mix with gel food coloring.
It stained his hands and mouth red. (I made him undress, just in case he got it on his clothes).
Ella just looked cute-didn't really help bake. We have lots of years for that.
Our finished projects. They tasted as good as they looked, too.
We went over to Nana and Papa's to bring them some of our cupcakes. I also made my family's traditional Buttermilk Brownies to share. We love having Aunt Patrice, Natalie and Ashley in town.
Carter has been planning a "4th of July Party". On his menu was Cheese Quesadillas. However, I won and we fired up the BBQ. We loved having Brody and his family over to celebrate the 4th!
Ella enjoyed watching the fireworks on the driveway.
Our Red, White and Blue family....with a little KSU from Daddy.
Carter learned to light the small fireworks with Daddy's help.
Ella had fun doing this with daddy...
and this with Darrell, Jenny's husband.
By about 8pm she was tired and wanted her bottle.
The kids liked watching the "fountain" fireworks.
Then we did make it to see the tail-end of the community fireworks.
It was a great and relaxing evening.
Yum! Can you post the buttermilk brownie recipe?
